Unless the ads for the show say "Fun for the whole family!", or "Bring your kids!", the following applies:
It depends on the child.
Generally, our feeling on whether a kid should come to a show is an attention-span issue. If your child can't sit through a half-hour television show, then he or she probably can't sit through two hours of Theatre.
As far as "objectionable subject matter" goes, that's very hard for us to say. Depending on your ethnic, religious, or cultural background, what is objectionable can vary widely. We don't feel comfortable making a list of negatives about our shows.
Besides, Theatre is art. If you walk into an art gallery that has Michaelangelo's David on display, you don't expect a warning of nudity.
If you're unsure if a show would be suitable for your child, though, please feel free to ask via email or our contact form. Just let us know what exactly you find objectionable.
You can volunteer as an usher. Each performance night at least one usher needs to be on duty inside the Theatre while the show is in progress.
Easy-- just use the contact form (it's up at the top of the page on the navigation bar), making sure you click the newsletter box.
Just click on the contact form to the left of this page, fill it out, and press submit!
Make sure to fill in your interests and any pertinent information about yourself and your skills. Then we can do our best to hook you up with something you'll enjoy!
Nope! This is not a requirement of membership. Our shows are produced in English, but there are many opportunities for Japanese speakers to help out!
In fact, we are currently trying to build up our Japanese membership, so please don't worry about your English. We have several co-ordinators who are billingual, so you should have no problem at all fitting in.
Nope! Let us help find your hidden talents. (Of course, experience is always an asset!)
Nope! We welcome participants of all ages! Although we would ask that children who require supervision be supervised by their parent or guardian.
PLEASE, don't throw them out. Because of the nature of the company, these pieces of history tend to migrate away from Yokohama along with their owners. We are always looking for more documentation of YTG (or YADC)'s past.
If these things are precious to you or your family, we would ask you to please consider lending them to us so that we can scan them and make electronic copies of them... or if you live very far away, you could scan them for us.
A member is anyone who has volunteered in any capacity for YTG within the intervening period between two Annual General Meetings (AGMs). So, for example, you might volunteer to stage manage a production in September 2010. If the next AGM took place in September 2011, you would be considered a voting member for that AGM, but not for the following AGM (September 2012) unless you volunteered again after the 2011 AGM. If there were any Emergency General Meetings (EGMs) called during the time between your volunteer work and the next AGM, you would be a voting member for that EGM.
